Run your whole channel in one business
You make the goods. Super stockists, stockists and distributors hold them and sell them on. Your field team books orders at the shops, and retailers can order for themselves. This guide explains who signs in where, what each person sees, and the order to set it all up in.
Pick your shape
Most factories grow through these three shapes in order. You can move up a shape at any time, and your data comes with you.
Office bills the channel
"We invoice our distributors from the factory. They use their own software."
- Office logins only
- Stockists and distributors are customers, filed by tier
- Add a field team if you want one
The channel keeps its books with you
"I want to see what every distributor holds and sells, without phoning them."
- Every stock point gets its own team of logins
- Your dispatch lands in their book as a purchase
- Primary vs secondary sales, stock ageing and collections, live
Retailers order for themselves
"Shops should order from their phones, and the order should reach their distributor."
- Everything in Ultra Premium
- A buyer app login for each retailer
- Orders route to the stock point that supplies the shop
Who signs in, and where
Everyone gets their own login; never share one. What decides the app, and what each person sees:
| Person | App | Login made by | Sees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner / admin | SKS Market | Created with the business | Everything |
| Office staff | SKS Market | Owner, Settings > Users | Your own books, by their switches |
| Field team (SR to NSM) | SKS Field Sales, plus SKS Market for managers | Owner or a manager with Manage the team, Field Team > Team | Their own territory only |
| Stock point team | SKS Market | Your office, or the party's own Principal or Manager | That one party's book only |
| Retailer | Buyer app | Your office, Buyer Login on the shop's row | Your catalogue and its own orders |
A team inside every stock point
A distributor is a business of its own. The owner runs it, somebody bills, somebody keeps the godown, somebody chases the money. Each of them gets their own login in that distributor's book, with only the work they do. The same applies to a stockist and a super stockist.
Principal
The distributor's owner or partner. The first login you give a stock point.
- Starts with
- Billing, prices and discounts, purchase and stock, payments, expenses, reports, channel money, approving orders and Manage The Team
- May add
- A Manager, and any desk below
Manager
Runs the floor for the principal.
- Starts with
- The same desks as the principal, but without deleting vouchers, salary or channel money
- May add
- Billing, Store Keeper, Accounts and Salesman. Not another manager
Billing
Bills the tier below and takes its payments at the counter.
- Starts with
- Payment Entry, Add Contact
- Not given
- Price edits, purchase, stock, reports
Store Keeper
Receives stock from the rung above and keeps the godown right.
- Starts with
- Manage Purchase, Stock Adjustment
- Not given
- Payments, reports
Accounts
Collects, pays and reads the book.
- Starts with
- Payment Entry, Expense, Income, Edit Voucher, View Reports
- Not given
- Stock, deleting vouchers
Salesman
The distributor's own person on the road.
- Starts with
- Take Field Orders, Payment Entry, and only their own vouchers
- Not given
- Anyone else's bills, reports
Each login starts from these defaults. Whoever creates it can switch any permission on or off before saving, as long as they hold that permission themselves.
Who may add whom
The principal can also add the desks directly. Nobody can add a login at their own level or above.

β by defaultβ partly: a salesman books orders, a manager adds only desks, a principal reads the books below when your office switches it onβ not by default
Give a stock point its logins (your office)
- Add the party: in Channel > Stock Points tap New, or use its list in the Directory. Every super stockist, stockist and distributor is a stock point, so its godown is created when you save. Nothing to switch on.
- Open its logins: tap the logins chip on its Stock Points row, open the party and pick the Logins tab, or choose User Login on its row menu. The list shows everyone who already signs in to that book. Edit or remove a login from there.
- Add the Principal: tap Add Login, choose Principal under Does, and enter their email. On a cloud business, if that email has no SKS Market account yet, saving offers to register one. The person then signs in with the password set there.
- Check the switches and save. Leave Manage The Team on if they should add their own staff. For a super stockist or stockist, switch on Read The Books Below if it should follow its downline (see Following the tiers below).
- Add more logins the same way, or let the principal do it.
Add your own staff (principal or manager)
- Open My Team: in SKS Market it is under Setup (on a phone, in the side menu).
- Add Login: pick what the person does. You are only offered the jobs below your own.
- Enter the email, check the switches, save. The new login is locked to your book. It cannot be moved to another party's.
Following the tiers below
A super stockist often wants to see how its stockists and distributors are doing. Read The Books Below on its login gives it exactly that, and nothing more.
What it opens
The channel reports, across this party and every stock point under it.
- Reports
- Stock Position, Stock Ageing, Primary / Secondary, Order Book, Sales by Outlet Type, Collection Efficiency and Scheme Utilization (the money reports still need View Channel Money)
What it never opens
Anything that writes in someone else's book.
- Not given
- Billing, prices, stock entries or vouchers in a downline book, and their staff logins
Who sets it
Your office, from the ladder as it stands today.
- Keep it current
- When you add or move a distributor, open the login and tap Refresh from the channel
- Passing it on
- A principal can give the same view to its own manager or accounts login, but never more than it has
Channel settings
Your office decides what every stock point's logins may do, in Settings › Field Sales › Channel. Only the owner or an administrator sees this card. A switch turned off takes the job away from every stock-point login straight away, even ones made earlier, and greys it out on the login form with Turned off in Channel settings.
| Switch | Starts | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Discounts on Bills | Off | Line and bill discounts on a stock point's bills |
| Change the Rate | Off | Billing at a rate other than your price list |
| Counter Sale | Off | The Counter menu: counter sale and counter return |
| Return to Factory | On | Principal, manager and store send goods back to you |
| Pay the Factory | On | Payment Out for the principal, manager and accounts desk |
| Expenses & Income | On | Expense and income vouchers in the stock point's own book |
| Correct Stock | On | Opening stock, stock adjustment and stock checkup |
| Add Their Own Retailers | On | Adding and editing the shops a stock point supplies |
The field team, beside the channel
Your own reps and managers walk a territory, not a book. They book orders at shops, and each order is billed through the stock point directly above the shop. The distributor who delivers the goods is the one who bills them.
- Ranks: Sales Representative, then Area, Regional, Zonal and National Sales Managers. Each manager sees everything inside their territory. Full detail is on Field Sales.
- Where they work: SKS Field Sales on the phone (cloud businesses only). Managers also use SKS Market in the office.
- Field team or a distributor's salesman? A rep on your payroll goes on the field team. A salesman on the distributor's payroll goes in the distributor's own team as a Salesman.
Retailers who order for themselves
With the Enterprise plan, a shop gets a login to the buyer app, not to SKS Market. It sees your catalogue at its own prices and places orders. Each order goes to the stock point that supplies that shop.
- File the shop as a Retailer in the Directory, with its route.
- Choose Buyer Login on its row, and enter the shop's name, email and a password.
- Read the password out to the shop. If the email already has an account, it is linked instead, and the shop keeps its own password.
A day in the channel
- 9:00Your dispatch desk raises a Dispatch to the distributor. The same bill lands in the distributor's book as a purchase.
- 10:30The distributor's Store Keeper checks the goods in and adjusts two damaged cases.
- 11:00Your ASM walks a beat and books orders at six shops. They bill through this distributor.
- 13:00A retailer orders from the buyer app, and the order reaches the same distributor.
- 15:00The distributor's Billing desk bills all seven orders. Its Salesman collects on the round.
- 18:00The Principal reads the day's sales. You read Primary / Secondary for the whole channel and see this distributor's sell-through.

What keeps each book private
- One book per login. A stock point's login sees that party's stock, vouchers and money, and nobody else's. Its user list shows only its own team.
- Never an admin. No stock point login can be an admin, because an admin has no limits at all.
- Only below, only what you hold. A principal or manager can only add logins below their own level, only in their own book, and only with permissions they hold themselves.
- Enforced by the server. These rules are checked on the server, so they hold even if someone bypasses the app.
Questions customers ask
Can one distributor see another distributor's stock or prices?
No. Each stock point's logins are locked to its own book. Only your office sees across the channel.
Can a stockist see the distributors below it?
Always: My Channel shows the tier directly below, with what each party owes that stockist. With Read The Books Below switched on by your office, it can also follow their stock and sales in the channel reports. It can never bill, price or adjust stock in their books, or see their staff logins.
We gave a distributor a login before teams existed. What now?
It opens as that party's Principal. Before it can add staff, your office opens it from the party's User Login list, checks the job is Principal, switches on Manage The Team and saves.
A distributor's person left. How do we stop their access?
The principal (or your office) opens the login in My Team and removes it. The next time that person's app syncs, the business disappears from it.
We hit the user limit. What counts?
Every SKS Market and Field Sales login: office staff, the field team and every stock point's team. Retailers' buyer logins do not count. Contact SKS Market to raise the limit.
Does a distributor need its own SKS Market subscription?
No. Its book lives inside your business and is covered by your plan. It only uses your user limit.
When saving a login is refused
| Message | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| You have reached max users | The business has used its whole user limit | Remove a login no longer used, or ask SKS to raise the limit |
| User not registered | No SKS Market account uses that email yet | Choose Register and create the account, or check the email |
| Only a principal or a manager may manage their team | A desk login tried to add someone | Ask the principal |
| This user may only manage seats below their own rank | A manager tried to add or edit a manager or principal | The principal or your office does it |
| This user may not grant …, which they do not hold | A switch on the new login is one the creator lacks | Turn that switch off, or ask your office |
| This user may only grant the stock points they hold themselves | The login points at another party's book | Open it from your own My Team |
| This user may only share the books they can read themselves | The new login's Read The Books Below covers books the creator cannot read | Switch it off, or ask your office |
| … is turned off in the Channel settings | The new login carries a job your office switched off for stock points | Turn that job off, or ask your office to turn the switch on |
| This user may not manage team members | The login has no Manage The Team, or was made before teams existed | Your office switches it on (see the FAQ above) |
