Laboratory

Investigations ordered from a consultation or a stay, tracked from ordered to sample collected to reported, with results entered against a test template (parameters, units, reference ranges) and a printed report. The test master carries the charge, which bills with the visit or the discharge.

Switch: Settings > Hospital > Laboratory. Permission: Report Investigations.

Where it appears

Hospital shell: Clinical Care > Investigations; the order button on the OPD desk and admission; lab test master (with charge) under the hospital vocabularies; Investigation Register and Lab Turnaround reports.

Screens

• Investigations - the queue by status and date, filter by patient or doctor; collect and enter results from the row.
• Result entry - parameter rows from the test's template; out-of-range values are flagged automatically.
• Template editor - define parameters, units and reference ranges per test once.
• Lab report print - patient, doctor, test, results with flags, signature.
